State reserves holding $350 million will be used to pay bills in the short term. Absent action by the Legislature or Gov. Sam Brownback, the treasury could dwindle to $28 million by this time next year. If they don't boost revenue or slash expenditures, the state could fall $239 million into the red in two years.
