Revenue-wise, Kansas is in a deep hole, thanks to the lost tax income. An immediate infusion of jobs — lots of jobs — must materialize very soon, or the state will face painful cuts to education, transportation and other vital services. Such job explosion is unlikely. Knowing his predicted “shot of adrenaline” fizzled, Brownback then likened his tax-cut strategy to “going through surgery” before healing. Are desperate attempts to resuscitate a state drowning in debt next?
