Kansans for Fair Courts is a non-partisan coalition of thousands of ordinary and hardworking Kansans, from every background and corner of the state, who have come together to demand that our court system remain free and fair for everybody. We believe that politics has no place in the courtroom and we demand that the process for selecting judges should remain open and transparent to all Kansans.
In 2013, the Kansas Legislature, at Governor Brownback's urging, replaced the process for selecting judges to the Kansas Court of Appeals from a merit-based system to a purely political model that gives the governor full control of the process. But, fair and impartial courts demand that judges be chosen based on their qualifications, not partisan politics.
Kansans for Fair Courts is an initiative of the Kansas Values Institute - a policy and grassroots advocacy organization that is committed to educating, equipping and mobilizing Kansans to take action on a variety of topics that form the bedrock of the Kansas spirit.
